This piece is an example of ancient Celtic Ogham writing. It translates into the Irish Gaelic term “ANAM CARA”, which means “Soul Friend”.
This ancient writing dates back to about the 4th century AD. It can be found engraved into stone mainly throughout sites in Ireland and also in parts of Wales, Scotland and southwest England.
“When you are blessed with an anam cara, the Irish believe, you have arrived at that most sacred place: home. This bond is special and sacred; it joins you in an ancient and eternal way… with the anam cara, you could share your innermost self, your mind and your heart.”
